From the south coast of England to the west coast of California, quality building is our
heritage.
1889 – 1948
Reginald E. Hayward founded The Hayward Construction Company in 1889 in Bournemouth, England. His nephew, Wilfred Frank Hayward (Frank), served as a "Master Plasterer" at Hayward Construction Company before moving to Canada to start Hayward and Pettett Plastering Contractors with his brother-in-law. Drawing on Frank's expertise in ornamental plaster, Hayward and Pettett Plastering Contractors built the prestigious Parliament Building in Winnipeg, among other notable projects.
In 1924, Frank moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, and worked as foreman for the Bolster
Company plastering contractor.
1948 – 1994
After serving in the U.S. Army, Reginald Frank Hayward, Frank's son, returned to Southern California to
work in construction like his father. While building homes in the Los Angeles area, Reg saw opportunity
in commercial construction. In 1948, he and his father founded a plastering contracting business,
WF Hayward Company.
WF Hayward Company quickly expanded its services to include lathing, metal stud framing, and drywall.
By the early 1960's the company had grown to become one of the largest shopping mall and major department
store builders in Southern California.
1994 – Present
Reg's sons Dennis and Doug took over management of WF Hayward Company in 1994, after having worked
in the field and office for several years. Under their leadership, the company established new and
rewarding relationships with customers and ventured out of state to complete projects in Tennessee,
Iowa, Virginia, and more.
In 1998, the brothers opened a second office in the Sacramento area to better serve WF Hayward Company's
expanding customer base. The Northern California office, led by Tom Coffey, is responsible for such
projects as the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
in Sacramento, and CALSTRS Headquarters.

Over the past 60 plus years, WF Hayward Company has worked on hundreds of building projects in eight states
and is proud of the high level of experience and service it is able to offer customers. The company's
